Singapore consultation on regulatory framework for the profession

A special committee to review the regulatory framework of the legal profession in Singapore, chaired by the Attorney General, has issued a consultation on proposals to overhaul the regulation of lawyers and firms practising in Singapore.

The Committee seeks views from the profession in Singapore and beyond on the regulatory paradigm that would best address the needs of Singapore in the future, bearing in mind the major changes the legal landscape in Singapore has undergone over the last decade and the evolving commercial expectations of both Singaporean and foreign law firms.

The Law Society will be submitting a formal response to the consultation and encourages member firms with an interest in Singapore to do so. Firms are invited to send any comments they may want to contribute to the Law Society's response to nankunda.katangaza@lawsociety.org.uk by 22 June.
