The Caribbean region boasts exceptional renewable energy resources including solar, wind, geothermal, oil and natural gas among others. The region has experienced significant economic growth in recent years, however, there is considerable potential for further investment and there are a number of investment vehicles available to finance Caribbean energy projects. Additionally, there has been a thrust towards developing inter-island projects which not only improves the efficiency of energy production but also fosters integration of energy market.

Speakers from industry, government and lawyers from the region will provide an overview of the market and opportunities for UK companies, law firms and their clients.

Outline programme:

  • Overview of natural resources in the Caribbean, recent projects, new exploration and investment opportunities
  • Finance: private sector vs. government, PPPs, M&A investment opportunities, and challenges to financing Caribbean energy projects
  • Scope for regional projects (multi-jurisdictional co-operation): practical and financial perspectives
  • Future of renewable energy sources in the Caribbean eg solar, wind, or the future of nuclear energy in the Caribbean
