Law Society volunteers assist with report on children with disabilities
Posted 4th October 2011
Save the Children and Handicap International published the report "Out from the Shadows" on 30 September 2011.
Volunteers from the Law Society International Action Team (IAT) had assisted with data collection and analysis in late 2010 and early 2011.
The report addresses the issue of sexual violence against children with disabilities, based on first-hand research in four African countries: Burundi, Madagascar, Mozambique and Tanzania (Zanzibar).
It finds that children with disabilities face insurmountable barriers to accessing legal and judicial systems.
The IAT volunteers were:
- Catherine Johnson
- Catherine Teya
- Claire Fourel
- Laura White
- Kate Newman
- Miriam Stanislaus
- Sarah Smith
- Courtenay Barklem
