July has already been a busy and exciting time for the Asia Team. We kick-started the month with the launch of the first FT Innovative Lawyers Report for the Asia-Pacific region, ‘Global Flows: Lawyers in Asia Pacific’, co-organised by the Law Society, the Financial Times and RSG Consulting.
The Law Society is taking its International Lawyers Training Programme (ILTP) to Singapore on 29-30 September 2014.
The Law Society's ILTP provides quality CPD accredited courses delivered by leading international trainers to qualified lawyers from all jurisdictions.
The annual International Bar Association (IBA) Conference, the premier event for international lawyers, will take place from 19 to 24 October 2014 in Tokyo, Japan.
This year’s event will, as always, feature a wide array of substantive sessions, workshops and panels, addressing issues ranging from arbitration to M&A law and human rights to the ethics of the legal profession.
The Malaysian legal services market is now officially open to foreign lawyers and law firms. The Malaysian Attorney General announced that the Legal Profession (Amendment) Act 2012 and additional amendments came into effect on 3 June 2014.
Please find below a round-up of events and opportunities in the Asia region that may be of interest to you. Where events are external to the Law Society please contact the named organiser directly for further details. If you are not already subscribed to our International Update newsletter, which keeps you up to date on the Law Society's international activity globally, you can read our latest edition and subscribe here.
The Asia team has launched a bespoke newsletter highlighting events and opportunities for members that are interested in the Asia region. The newsletter will be sent out on a bi-monthly basis and will include events and opportunities organised by The Law Society as well as those organised by external organisations.
To subscribe to this newsletter, please send an email to Asia@lawsociety.org.uk requesting to be added to the mailing list.
